It just sounds science fiction-y, doesn’t it? The Year 2020. We all thought we’d have androids and flying cars by now. We do have cell phones with THREE cameras, so that’s something.
Lack of humanoid robots aside, 2020 is shaping up to be a big year for me. Before I get to that, let me take a brief look back at the current year.
2019 saw the release of Hard Reset, my novel of near-future domestic terrorism-themed speculative fiction. I am immensely proud of how this book turned out. It’s gotten a few reviews and ratings, but I would love to see it get a few more.
To help with that goal, Hard Reset will be 50% off during Smashwords’ End of Year Sale starting on December 25th, so mark your calendars. For the cost of a minimally-complicated coffee drink at your local caffeine dealer, you could have an entire ebook. Pretty good deal, right?
And I’d love it if, after you’ve finished reading it, you gave it a review somewhere. All it takes is a few honest sentences on Amazon, Goodreads, Smashwords, or even your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram page. You’ll have my eternal gratitude, and you’ll be helping boost the visibility of a great book. And it is a great book.
Right. That’s 2019. So what’s next for me?
Since the completion of Hard Reset, I’ve been preparing the first of two—yes, two—novels I plan to release in 2020. This first novel is more complex than anything I’ve attempted to write before, so it’s requiring a good bit of planning and research.
What’s it about? Here’s what I’ll say about it: it’s set in space, it spans several centuries, and it’s given me a good reason to study a wide range of scientific disciplines. And math. Holy hell, the MATH.
But even with all that good science, this is still a story about the characters, those brave people on their epic journey. The novel will be the start of a whole new series, and I’m really excited to share it with everyone. Look for it some time in the first half of 2020.
As for the second novel I have planned for next year, I’ll talk more about that some other time. And I promised you music, didn’t I?
I think you’ll agree: 2020’s gonna be busy. And awesome. Maybe you’ll wanna sign up for my email newsletter?
Enjoy your holidays (if you choose to participate), and I’ll talk to you next year.
