I played ‘Mark of the Ninja,’ a #BacklogSunday re-cap.

Good ol’ Humble Bundles. There’s no better way to get a whole heap of games in one shot that you won’t have time to play. At least some of the cash goes to charity.

It was one of the Indie Bundles that gave me ‘Mark of the Ninja,’ last night’s selection for Backlog Sunday. It lists Microsoft Studios as the publisher, which doesn’t sound “indie.” Such a wacky industry.

ninja02Indie or not, the game is solid. You play as a ninja (go figure!), using stealth and a sword to battle the bad guys, who all have machine guns. There’s more than one way to play; you can kill everyone or no one, disable lights and traps or avoid them. I found myself intentionally replaying a few sections in order to do things a bit cleaner. Just wanted to be the best ninja I can be. I’ve been spending a lot of my time playing ‘Alien: Isolation,’ which also involves a lot of sneaking around and hiding. I found ‘Mark of the Ninja’ to be far less stressful, though.

Next week, another game from the backlog, 7pm-ish on Twitter.

  1. Yeah, you’re right: Microsoft studios doesn’t sound very “indie.” :) I think a lot of people use the term indie very loosely these days. I haven’t seen a real clear definition.

Anyway, glad to hear the game is good. I got it two summer sales ago on Steam and haven’t played it yet.
